Who We Are
On October 27, 2018, Joyce Fienberg was one of the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Joyce's daughter-in-law, Marnie Fienberg, wanted to take action and discovered that there were very few grassroots opportunities to embrace to help fight against anti-Semitism. Marnie Fienberg, and long-time friend, Lauren Kline, founded Pittsburgh Interfaith Evolution (PIE) Corporation with the idea that more local, grassroots opportunities are needed in this area. The "2 for seder" initiative was the proof of concept and was successful in 2019. COVID prevented this program from happening in 2020. 2 for Seder has created a "Take Action" weekly newsletter which you can sign up for at Sign Up to Participate in 2 for Seder - 2 for Seder. Every week, you will be sent stories of everyday people pushing back against anti-Semitism in positive ways, and we'll provide tips for you to consider, with small actions you can take.
What Volunteers Do
We are a new nonprofit focused on fighting against anti-Semitism by building bridges across different faiths. By sharing knowledge and making connections, we hope to build bridges strong enough for us to stand on together and reduce violent acts stemming from ignorance and misconceptions. Due to COVID, we were unable to continue our 2 for Seder initiative in 2020. We're looking to innovate this program for 2021. We've created the "Take Action" newsletter, which we send weekly through email. The newsletter provides positive stories and various opportunities for everyday people to take action in meaningful ways. We also held a successful "Singing in the Sukkah" virtual event for Sukkot.
