Who We Are

There Goes My Hero’s mission is to save lives, provide hope, and help those impacted by blood cancer. We have a variety of programs and initiatives, such as bone marrow donor registry drives, the Hero Fund, Color the Registry, and Join for Joe.

Some of Our Programs and Initiatives

Since 2009, we have:

Registered 23,134 potential lifesavers onto the bone marrow donor registry

   Found 709 matches

   Facilitate 67 life-saving transplants

   Provided 155,985 meals to patients

What Volunteers Do

Volunteers educate people on the importance of joining the bone marrow donor registry and facilitate the swabbing process for those who are interested in registering at bone marrow donor registry drives. Volunteers also prepare and serve meals for the cancer patients and caregivers at Johns Hopkins Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion, create cards of encouragement, assemble care packages, and stuff farting animals for pediatric cancer patients. There Goes My Hero has in-office volunteer opportunities as well, including opportunities to write “Thank You” letters to our donors, call businesses for donations, and more!

Volunteers also provide support at special events, such as the Bob Bell Golf Tournament, United Karting, and Winter Boxes of Joy.

If you are interested in learning more about these volunteer opportunities, please email olivia@theregoesmyhero.org.
