Who We Are
Next Generation Arts Council was founded in June 2019 for the purpose of teaching kids that there is much more to keeping arts in their lives than simply performing on stage. We are an inclusive youth arts program that fuels life-long passion and participation in the arts. We are unique among regional youth theaters in that the kids who perform and work on the productions pay nothing to participate. Shows are funded through ticket sales and donations, and also supported by classes and workshops which are designed to provide specialized training in furtherance of the company mission.
What Volunteers Do
Arts Education and Youth Theater - Our junior company is comprised of kids ages 10-18 who learn all aspects of mounting a theatrical production (performance, backstage and technical crew, costumes, publicity, and assistance with directing, music direction, choreography, and so forth). Our senior company is comprised of high school and college artists who act, produce, direct, choreograph, music direct, conduct, market, lead technical crew, and serve on our Youth Advisory Board learning how to run a non-profit. We collaborate with community organizations on projects with senior citizens and with elementary school children. The ultimate goal is to instill in young artists the realization that there are many ways to keep arts in their lives beyond performing. We regularly seek community members to help support our activities. We seek teaching artists, carpenters, set painters, lights/sound experts, drivers (to move set pieces), community businesses, photographers, seamstresses, make-up/hair artists, and so many more are most welcome to mentor and collaborate with our young artists.
