Who We Are

Family Learning Solutions has operated programs since 1997 in apartment communities, recreation centers and schools. We serve all youth and families. Our goal is to help improve mental health wellbeing and thus we offer academic, expressive art and various enrichment supportive services to youth and families. SSL hours have been provided to students for performing volunteer work. Our newest initiative Food Grown Home (@foodgrownhome) on twitter and instagram involves teaching adults, youth indoor food growing. We also support food rescue in collaboration with community groups and churches. Tutoring is provided virtually or in person and Mentoring is provided in person. Students can participate in our initiatives. Inquire (via email) to learn more. In addition, FLS is sponsoring the Climate Health Education Initiative (CHEI) to inspire youth to engage in and lead sustainable activities via workshops, after-school and lunch programs to students in Montgomery County, MD. Please inquire at flsmoco@gmail.com to find out how to get involved at your school. Students are encourage to lead or co-lead activities via recruiting peers, identifying MCPS staff sponsors and space to hold activities within their school space. Activities can begin immediately so please reach out to us to get started!!

What Volunteers Do

Create, Engage or Lead a Sustainable activity at your school! With support from the student founded Climate Health Education Initiative and Family Learning Solutions, you will inspire yourself and your peers to learn about the pro-environment practices and activities that support healthy environmental living including indoor food-growing and recyclable initiatives that can be done right at school and or home!

FLS is can always benefit from volunteers who are able to help during lunch hours with expressive art programming; food-growing projects and virtual or in-person tutoring during after-school hours; High school student volunteers create curriculum that tutors utilize and other community service projects. College students needed and adults to serve as career speakers and assist FLS staff with programming. Please inquire if you have availability.
