Who We Are

Campus Compact Mid-Atlantic (CCMA) is a non-profit membership association of public, private, 2- and 4-year colleges and universities. CCMA provides leadership to colleges and universities in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Delaware by advocating, supporting, and encouraging institutional participation in academic and co-curricular-based public service and civic engagement programs. CCMA strengthens the capacity of member institutions to enhance student learning and to meaningfully engage with communities. Our theory of change is that real, lasting systemic change begins with each individual, but is magnified by working together, collaborating, and sharing across and among different programs and projects – increasing our collective impact!

What Volunteers Do

Campus Compact Mid-Atlantic (CCMA) AmeriCorps VISTA programs join the missions of our organization and AmeriCorps VISTA through projects that build campus-community partnerships to fight poverty and create lasting systemic change in individuals, institutions, and communities. Anti-poverty is the common thread through our many-faceted projects that range from education to community health, from food security to sustainability and veterans issues. All CCMA projects and programs advance justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) through our collective impact initiative. Through the Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA program, we alleviate poverty by strengthening communities and developing leaders throughout Maryland, DC, Delaware, and Virginia. Service member volunteers will: · Improve college access and success · Bring community assets and voice to community-led change initiatives · Empower students to be community advocates and allies · Leverage service-learning to address local, national, and global community issues · Capacity-building of higher education institutions to strengthen communities · Community organizing, volunteer management, and community partnership development For the 2022-2023 AmeriCorps VISTA service year, CCMA will have 35 open VISTA positions. Some of our capacity-building projects focus on food insecurity, mentoring high school students, providing resources to veteran and military families, developing leadership skills for survivors of human trafficking, supporting refugees and asylum seekers, and mental health/wellness for college students.
