Who We Are
Rockville is one of the leading municipalities in Maryland that has made a formal commitment to move its operations and community towards more sustainable future that considers the following:
- Prosperity - supporting local economies and community resources.
- Planet - practicing responsible environmental management and conservation.
- People - embracing social equity, fairness, health and wellness.
Rockville's sustainability initiatives strive to save tax dollars, assure clean land, air and water, and improve working and living environments in order to build a sustainable community that will thrive well into the new century.
What Volunteers Do
The goal of the city’s Environmental Management volunteer opportunities is to engage the public in protecting and restoring Rockville’s environment, reducing pollution, and building a more resilient community. Volunteer activities include stream litter cleanups, non-native invasive plant removal workdays, storm drain painting/marking, and other opportunities that help promote environmental awareness throughout the city.
Most volunteer opportunities take place outdoors in City of Rockville parks while others take place at City facilities, meetings or outreach events.
