Who We Are
We are the Sligo Middle School parent, teacher, and student association. We are a thriving, engaged community of parents, guardians, family members, teachers, staff and students partnering together to advocate for all children in our beautifully diverse community in Silver Spring, Maryland. FOSTER a sense of community for all students, families, teachers and staff. Create space for dialogue, encourage engagement, and sponsor activities and community service events. HELP parents as they navigate the school system. Provide information that families need to support their children in school. IMPROVE academic performance among all Sligo students. In conjunction with MCPS and Sligo MS leaders, identify ways to ensure that all students have the opportunity to thrive, including targeted efforts to close the achievement gap and ensure educational enrichment. Progress should be measured and tracked, then communicated to students, families, teachers, and staff. LIFT UP teachers and staff by providing needed resources, including library materials, music and sports equipment, academic support and enrichment programs, and by sponsoring Staff Appreciation Week and other activities.
