FCAR is a small, locally-run 501(c)(3) non-profit charity dedicated to saving dogs from high-kill shelters and other dangerous or unhealthy situations. We operate through a network of volunteers and foster homes in the DC Metro area. Our efforts are funded by tax-deductible contributions from compassionate people and organizations who want to make a difference in our community. We can’t save every dog, but every dog we save is forever changed.
What Volunteers Do
Student volunteers help support adoption events by sharing information about our organization and about individual animals in our care with people who are interested in adoption. Students, under parents' supervision, help handle dogs and cats at adoption event by walking them, engaging with them and showcasing them during the adoption events. Students, under the supervision of their parents, volunteer their time to work with the pets in our care by fostering them. This involves taking care of their daily needs from walking, feeding, socializing, and training. Our rescue supports the students by providing them with guidance and support during the foster period.
