Who We Are

The University of Maryland Extension Montgomery County office carries out the mission to serve the public good, be a steward of a healthy planet, feed and nourish communities, and build a sustainable tomorrow.

What Volunteers Do

We are looking for volunteers to work during the month of October for our Close Encounters with Agriculture program. The month-long program teaches 4th grade students about agriculture, nutrition and the environment. Volunteers will need to complete a non-refundable $65 background check. Duties include one or more of the following: shepherding students from station to station, teaching sessions, time keeping, volunteer check-in. Training is provided.
