Gear Up Hockey Foundation

Who We Are

We are a DMV based nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that every child, regardless of their zip code or socioeconomic status, has the opportunity to experience the life lessons of hockey. Founded and led by a veteran coach with 30 years of experience in the sport, our organization bridges the 'access gap' in youth athletics. We operate a community driven gear distribution network that collects, refurbishes, and provides full sets of hockey equipment to aspiring athletes. By removing the $1,000+ cost barrier of entry, we empower students to build discipline, teamwork, and 'game-day confidence' on the ice. Our mission is to transform the landscape of local sports to reflect the diversity and hustle of our community." What Students (SSL Volunteers) Will Do: • Inventory & Logistics: Students will assist in the intake, sanitization, and organization of donated hockey equipment. • Safety Inspections: Under supervision, volunteers will learn to inspect gear for safety standards to ensure it is fit for play. • Data Management: Students will help update our inventory systems (Monday.com/WMS) to track the "Gap" between available gear and community needs. • Community Outreach: Volunteers may assist in preparing gear packages for shipping or local distribution to families in need.
