Cedar Grove ES

Who We Are

Cedar Grove Elementary School has a long and rich history. From one teacher and 51 pupils in 1868 to our present school of about over 330 students, the school has been an integral part of the community, evolving to meet the changing needs of our students and the world around them. Our current building, sitting on 10.1 acres of land, was constructed in 1960 and renovated in 1987. Cedar Grove is a member of the Clarksburg and Damascus High School clusters. We work closely with staff from the other cluster schools to align our instructional programs and to better meet the needs of our students and families. All of our students feed into Hallie Wells Middle School. Cedar Grove has a very diverse student body, with students from over 20 countries and speaking almost as many languages. This variety of cultural backgrounds strengthens our school and gives our students the opportunity to learn from and with students from around the world. We are fortunate to have an ASD program whose students bring joy and new learning experiences to all our students and staff. In 2012, we were awarded our Green School status, which was just recently renewed in the 2024. In 2013 we were one of two Maryland schools that won the Federal Green Ribbon School status. Our green efforts enrich our school community every day.
