Intercultural Counseling Connection (A program of Uplift Alliance)

Who We Are

The Intercultural Counseling Connection provides trauma-focused, pro-bono mental health services for asylum seekers and other forced migrants in Maryland. The Connection is the only program in the state uniquely dedicated to providing culturally and linguistically responsive therapy for adult survivors of torture, sexual and gender-based violence, inhumane treatment, conflict-related harm, targeted persecution, and other forms of extreme harm. We do so through our skilled clinical staff, dedicated support team, and extensive network of compassionate volunteer therapists.

What Volunteers Do

If you are mental health professional licensed in Maryland who is looking to support migrants in their healing journeys, we welcome you to join our pro-bono network of clinicians by submitting an interest form below. Each clinician will be asked to commit to working with at least one Connection client per year on a pro bono basis. The Connection could not exist without our dedicated clinicians, who provide vital access to mental health services for survivors of violence and trauma who would otherwise be without support. The Connection occasionally hosts non-clinical volunteers for help with research projects, running trainings, providing on-site childcare, or supporting group therapy activities. Please submit a volunteer application if you have an idea or are interested in helping out!
