Scouting America St. Patrick Church Troop 457

The mission of the Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Scouting America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training. Scouting continues to: o Offer young people responsible fun and adventure; o Instill in young people lifetime values and develop in them ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law; o Train young people in citizenship, service, and leadership; o Serve America's communities and families with a quality, values-based program (scouting.org) Troop 457 is a youth-led Troop of Scouting America. The Senior Patrol Leader and Assistants meet with the individual Patrol Leaders at the Patrol Leaders Council monthly to plan events. The Scoutmaster guides and directs the programming of the Troop with the support of registered adult volunteers, including Assistant Scoutmasters and members of the Troop Committee.

Adult and Scout registrants within the troop conduct numerous community service projects for various needs based of youth interests. These service projects include approx. 12 Eagle projects per year and other opportunities tied to the Troop sponsor St. Patrick Church and Scouting America District community service projects. Examples include supporting a major annual food drive, parking/traffic management for Montgomery County Holiday Giving program, support needs post Haiti earthquake, etc.
