Who We Are

CREATE Arts Center's mission is to spark creativity, foster learning, empower individuals, and facilitate community connections through the visual arts.

Whether by giving a child the opportunity to explore creative activities and make new friends in an art camp or class, using art to help at-risk students succeed in school, or providing a supportive, therapeutic arts community for adults, CREATE is firmly committed to the belief that each individual and our entire community is made better through the transformative power of art.

Our success comes from knowing that we have contributed in a significant way to the lives of those individuals we serve.

CREATE achieves its mission through arts education, enrichment, and therapeutic art programs that reflect our core values to:

  • Provide a culture of respect, support, and purpose
  • Maintain a commitment to high quality programs and services
  • Inspire a sense of joy in the art-making process
  • Collaborate and partner with individuals and organizations
  • Recognize all forms of creativity and diversity in artistic expression

What Volunteers Do

CREATE Arts Center is a nonprofit visual arts organization that has been bringing the arts to Montgomery County for 30 years through art education and art therapy. We serve the general population through Art Classes, Camps, Workshops, and special events. Our programs are designed to foster creativity and enjoyment in the arts, and promote personal growth, skill development, and self-esteem. Our educational programs help students learn about the arts from experts in the field. Students are able to explore their own creativity and imagination in a supportive environment where the experience is as important as the finished product. CREATE's Art Therapy programs work with individuals and groups to express their emotions through art in a safe and therapeutic setting under the guidance of a professional art therapist. CREATE?s art therapists are experienced in supporting children and adults, and addressing challenges such as stress, depression, trauma, anxiety, illness, and grief. We serve our community by offering free arts events several times a year and help teenagers learn how to become strong community members through our CIT and volunteer programs.
