Who We Are
Fidos For Freedom is a non-profit organization that strives to improve the quality of life for people in the Baltimore-Washington area through the use of hearing dogs, service dogs, dogs for veterans with PTSD, and therapy dogs.
What Volunteers Do
Fidos For Freedom has three programs: Our Assistance Dog Program increases the independence, self-esteem and quality of life for people with disabilities and/or hearing loss and/or Veterans with PTSD in the community. This is accomplished by training high-quality, dependable Hearing Dogs and Service Dogs which are then placed with qualified clients who reside in the Baltimore, Washington, D.C and Northern Virginia areas. Our Therapy Dog Program consists of people who volunteer with their personal pets to visit local health care facilities to bring unconditional love to patients and residents. Our Junior Volunteer Program offers an opportunity for middle and high schoolers to build their disability awareness, participate in Fidos Programs, and learn basic dog handler skills while earning their community service hours by working with our Therapy Dogs teams.
