Who We Are

The mission of Food & Friends is to foster a community caring for men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses by preparing and delivering specialized meals and groceries in conjunction with nutrition counseling.

What Volunteers Do

Monday through Saturday, Food & Friends prepares, packages and delivers nutritionally-tailored, delicious meals directly to our clients’ homes. Each delivery includes food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with liquid nutritional supplements, as needed. Our community dietitians and professional chefs work closely to provide individualized services to our clients. Food & Friends offers 11 specialized meal plans to meet our clients’ nutritional needs.

Food & Friends depends on thousands of volunteers every year to carry out our mission of preparing, packaging and delivering nutritious meals to those battling serious illnesses. Join us!

The first step to becoming a Food & Friends volunteer is to attend a virtual new volunteer orientation. You can register here https://foodandfriends.org/volunteer/

Volunteer opportunities to deliver meals and work in the kitchen are available. However, MCPS will not approve meal delivery as service learning hours. MCPS students seeking service hours may volunteer in the kitchen performing tasks such as portioning, sealing and labeling meals, and packing meals and groceries. You must be at least 14 to volunteer in our kitchen and volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

* We require all adults (19+) who volunteer individually to undergo a background check.  For delivery volunteers, the check will include a motor vehicle report.  You must complete the process before your first day.

*Currently, we cannot approve court ordered service.
