Who We Are
In pursuit of a just, equitable and inclusive society, Identity creates opportunities for Latino and other historically underserved youth to realize their highest potential and thrive.
Our Core Values:
- Young people come first.
- Every child has potential.
- Youth deserve more than one chance.
- Society is enhanced by cultural diversity.
- To serve others is a privilege and requires excellence.
What Volunteers Do
Every year, Identity assists thousands of students and disconnected youth and their families living in high poverty areas of Montgomery County, MD to help improve social and emotional well-being, achieve academic success and prepare for work. Identity supports youths’ successful transition into adulthood at school, in the community, and on the playing fields with bilingual, culturally competent and trauma-informed programs complemented by wraparound services such as case management, mental health and substance abuse counseling, family strengthening and reunification services, and recreation. Research-based programs and a strong commitment to community input through needs assessments and rigorous evaluation are key pillars of Identity. So too is its pledge to leave no young person or family behind, regardless of the severity of their challenges or when and how they present.
