Independence Now, Inc.

Our mission is to facilitate independent thought and action by people with disabilities. We promote the principle that each person has value. To this end, we provide the tools for individuals to develop and discover their power to control their interactions with the environment, their families and their communities.

Independence Now is part of a nationwide network of Centers for Independent Living. We provide four core services to people with disabilities living in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. Our four core services are: independent living skills training, peer mentoring, individual and system advocacy, and information and referral. We also have programs that outreach to individuals living in nursing facilities about their options for community living; employment services; assistive technology and accessible home modification; and benefits counseling for individuals receiving Social Security Benefits.
