McLean School - SummerEdge Program

McLean School makes education accessible, stimulating and meaningful for a broad range of learners. Our students flourish because McLean responds to students' learning styles. McLean prepares students intellectually and socially by encouraging self-advocacy and building self-confidence. Our students succeed because they learn how to learn.

SummerEdge is an extension of McLean School and provides a summer camp experience with fun-paced learning and recreational activities for students entering Pre-K-grade 12. 

SummerEdge at McLean School offers a one-week Community Service Camp. Online registration is required and spaces are limited. Community Service Camp is an opportunity for students to earn Community Service (SSL) hours and have a great time doing it! Teens entering grades 7-12 will earn a minimum of 15 SSL hours a week supporting local organizations and benefiting the community. Previous partnerships have included, Nourish Now, Martha’s Table, A Wider Circle, Leveling the Playing Field, Oasis Farm, and Bikes for the World. Campers will spend some time on campus reflecting on their activities as a group and journaling.

SummerEdge offers a Counselor-in-Training program which is a great opportunity for teens entering grades 9 and 10 who are eager to take their camp experience to a new level. This one week program focuses on team-building, safety protocols including First Aid and CPR, and how to teach, mentor, and counsel campers. It’s a wonderful precursor to becoming a full time camp counselor, or simply a great opportunity to learn valuable leadership skills.

SummerEdge has Volunteer opportunities are available for students ages 14-18. Volunteers support paid counselors and instructors with their day-to-day responsibilities.
