Who We Are
Phoenix Computers is dedicated to empowering low income families and disabled individuals by providing them with low cost refurbished computers. Our mission is expressed in our motto Reclaim, Refurbish, Reuse and is achieved by partnering with other nonprofit, educational, religious, veterans, and governmental organizations in the Washington, D.C. area.
What Volunteers Do
Phoenix Computers accepts donations of new and used computers, equipment and software. We have a workshop and client service center in Rockville where our all-volunteer staff perform tests, run diagnostics and refurbish the computers. We offer desktop computer bundles with Windows 10 for as low as $25. We also have laptops that range in price from $100 to around $200 depending on the hardware in the laptop. The basic desktop computer bundle includes the computer, a 17" flat screen monitor, keyboard and mouse. We have one technician who specializes in preparing computers for the visually handicapped and blind. The computers are distributed to low-income and disabled individuals and families as well as directly to non-profit, educational, religion-based, and charitable organizations that work with low and moderate income families.
Phoenix Computers also works with students who are fulfilling their Student Service Learning requirement. They are able to help others by working on the computers and at the same time learning valuable skills.
