Who We Are
Just Neighbors (formerly DC-MD Justice For Our Neighbors) provides high-quality immigration legal services to low-income immigrants, asylees, and refugees in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. We work to build community among clients, staff, volunteers and the larger society through education, advocacy, and volunteerism. We are a 24 year-old 501(c)3 who assists low-income immigrants (below 200% of poverty level) with their humanitarian-based immigration applications.
What Volunteers Do
Our legal services include Advice and Counsel, Asylum, VAWA, U Visas, T Visas, TPS, DACA, Citizenship, green card renewal, and employment authorization. Through our effective use of volunteers working beside our staff attorneys, we are able to help more clients. We utilize volunteer attorneys, but also non-attorneys to work directly with clients, translate written and oral communications, perform a variety of office functions, community outreach, fundraising, grant writing, event planning and more. Due to the nature of our client work, most volunteer positions require a minimum age of 18.
