Terms & Conditions for Registered Agencies
REGISTRATION AGREEMENT
RECITALS
R-1. The mission of the Montgomery County Volunteer Center ("the Center") is to mobilize people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems.
R-2. This Agreement governs the terms and conditions under which the Registered Agency may use Center services ("the Program").
AGREEMENT
1. Accurate Information. The Registered Agency certifies that all information it has provided or will provide to the Center in connection with its participation in the Program is true and correct and can be relied upon by the Center in taking any action with respect to this Agreement.
2. Non-Profit Status. The Registered Agency certifies that it is a non-profit tax-exempt organization under the IRS code or is a public agency. The only exception is private for-profit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and hospice programs may register and post volunteer opportunities only if the positions directly serve clients. Political campaigns may not register.
3. Compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws. The Registered Agency must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local nondiscrimination laws, including Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
4. Professional Behavior. The Registered Agency must act in a professional manner while participating in the Program, including its interactions with the Center staff, potential volunteers, and donors. Examples of unprofessional conduct include discourtesy, harassment, and any other behavior that would violate standards applicable to County employees.
5. Donations Hotlink Program. Participation in the Donations Hotlink program is limited to Registered Agencies approved by the IRS to accept tax-deductible donations, such as 501(c)(3) agencies. The Registered Agency is responsible for contacting the donor and arranging for the pick up of the item. The Registered Agency must not pass on donor information to clients or other individuals, except for the staff and volunteers of the Registered Agency.
6. Insurance. The Registered Agency must provide any insurance required for volunteers. The Center assumes no responsibility for insurance coverage.
7. Registered Agency Must Maintain Updated Information. The Registered Agency is solely responsible for posting/updating your agency content. Your agency/opportunities then go through an approval process. The process usually takes about 48 hours. Student Service Learning Approval by Montgomery County Public Schools may take longer, up to two weeks. Agencies must login to update at least once a year.
8. Statistical Information. The Registered Agency must provide the Center with statistical information concerning placement of volunteers referred through the Center as requested, when available.
9. Suitability Of Potential Volunteers. The Registered Agency has sole responsibility for determining suitability of potential volunteers referred through the Center. The Volunteer Center strongly recommends that the Agency develop an interview process which adequately screens volunteers using reference checks and police background investigations when deemed appropriate.
10. Termination. The Center may reject the Registered Agency's application, terminate the Registered Agency from the Program, and pursue any other appropriate remedy if the Registered Agency violates any provision of this Agreement. If the Center wishes to terminate a Registered Agency from the Program, the Center will first provide it with written notification of the reason(s) for termination and five business days to respond in writing. The Center's decision is final.
