Volunteer: Ride For Your Life: Community Bike Ride & RallyBegun after the death of mother and U.S. diplomat Sarah Debbink Langenkamp, Ride for Your Life is a 10-mile slow ride from Downtown Bethesda to the Lincoln Memorial dedicated to creating change on our roadways. Marking World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, we will rally at the memorial with safe streets leaders and members of Congress to demand better — better infrastructure and better laws — for all those who use our roads. We are looking for volunteers to support registration for riders (8:30-10:00am in Bethesda), to usher event attendees to correct locations (8:30-10:30am in Bethesda AND 11:30-1:30pm in Washington, DC) , and to support event set-up and breakdown (8:30-10:00am in Bethesda, 11:30-1:30pm in Washington, DC) . TIMING/LOCATION ALERT: Morning shifts (8:30am-12pm) for event set-up/break-down and event registration will occur in Downtown Bethesda at Caroline Freeland Urban Park (7200 Arlington Road Bethesda, MD 20814). Afternoon shifts from 11:30-1:30pm will be at the Lincoln Monument in Washington, DC (2 Lincoln Memorial Cir NW, Washington, DC 20002) where volunteers are also needed for event set-up/breakdown, and to support attendees. Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
