Volunteer: One-on-One Volunteers
One-on-one volunteers serve adult consumers who are blind or visually impaired.
CLB’s volunteer readers read in-person inside the homes of adults who are blind
or visually impaired. CLB and its volunteer program serve the entire
Washington, DC Region. They read the consumers' mail and/or paper
documents. Volunteers might take the consumers to the grocery stores,
too.
Volunteers in the program, contribute at least four hours a month of time, must
be 18 years of age, and approved background checks, as well as attend a virtual
orientation. Not approved for MCPS SSL hours. See guidelines for agencies on how virtual opportunities may be considered for SSL.
