Tracking SSL Hours

Students will earn hour-for-hour the amount of time serving when they are directly supervised. All time serve for this opportunity will be under direct supervision.

Note: This opportunity is at the discretion of the parent/guardian. All volunteers must complete the waiver prior to serving. All virtual communications and sessions will be under our supervision. If one of our supervisors is not available, the virtual session will not occur. Students personal identity including their name/email and home address will be kept confidential and not shared. Students will engage in email and phone communications only with our nonprofit supervisors. Student must also use their personal/private accounts during virtual sessions, and not their MCPS accounts. Virtual sessions will not be recorded. Additionally, students cannot share photos, pictures, or videos of themselves unless we have obtained a signed form or waiver form the student's parent/guardian authorizing permission. Our organization will be responsible for posting, distributing, and circulating the created content. Lastly, we will not share any information about participants to any third parties.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy at any time the student is interacting with the nonprofit and its clients. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. We will work together to count and take photos of every bag of trash collected for a report to the Department of Transportation. You’re also welcome to bring a canned food item for our Earth Day food drive supporting local families.

It has a long and deep rooted history that is evident today in Prathertown's many artifacts and historical homes. By volunteering, you will be contributing to the health of Prathertown’s environment and reducing litter. 

By collecting and removing litter from Prathertown, the animals benefit from a cleaner, safer habitat that helps protect them from pollution, injury, and contaminated food sources.

What Volunteer Drivers Do:
- Provide rides to medical appointments, grocery stores, community events, and essential errands
- Offer friendly conversation and a reassuring presence
- Help seniors maintain independence and stay engaged in the community
What You Need:
- A valid driver’s license and safe, insured vehicle
- A commitment to kindness, patience, and respect
- Availability for occasional weekday rides (you choose your schedule)
