Volunteer: Writing science question and answer storyboards for videotapingThere are several really awesome YouTube sites that provide amazing videos answering science questions and talking about the wonders of the world around us. Science is Elemental, in its work to bring science to students who might not go seek it out also wants to support their teachers, seeks to join them. We are embarking on an effort to provide fun cool videos, geared toward elementary school teachers and their students, about the science that is part of our every day world, and in our daily environments. If you can bring a joy for learning, a sense of humor to add a joke or two, and a willingness to write your own and critique other storyboards as we prep to make videos, this is an opportunity for you. Requirements are an interest in science, and plain English, high-clarity writing. Video experience a plus but not required. While this is a virtual opportunity, there may be times when you can join in the actual video filming, although it is not a requirement that you do so. Even if you wish to be present to see your storyboard come to life, there is absolutely no requirement to be on camera. Not approved for MCPS SSL hours. Organization: Science is Elemental, Inc. We want kids to have fun doing what they love to do such as art. music and sports, while learning some science. SIE's goal is to reach those kids that don't yet know that they like science. While we are thrilled to have high school students helping out, and welcome their participation, many of our workshops occur during the school day, when they are not available. SIE is seeking professionals with some time during the day. Retirees or near-retirees would be fantastic, particularly those with a science or engineering background. The workshops can occur anywhere in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Organization: Science is Elemental, Inc. Science is Elemental runs integrated science workshops.
