Volunteer: Havana Hop!A charming, dynamic tale of culture and originality, created by award-winning DC and IStage artist Paige Hernandez, using her childhood as inspiration. What if you were invited to dance for President Obama? You’d want it to be the best dance ever! Meet young Yelia who visits her grandmother in Cuba to add a salsa flavor to her own hip-hop style! Journey with Yelia as she discovers the fun of her multi-cultural heritage. Ushers for this performance will need to be 16 years old! No exceptions! Ushers will be responsible for scanning tickets, seating patrons, stage guarding, and handing out programs. There may be times when ushers will help with folding programs for the next show. Ushers will need to arrive on time for the shift they have sign up for and wearing all black attire, and closed toed shoes. (No crocs). T-shirts are ok but with limited logos. No profanity. Our theatre is little chilly, even in the winter time, so we advise wearing a black sweater or sweatshirt. We also provide SSL forms ( Student Service Learning hours). Our forms are prefilled out. Volunteers will only need to fill out the student portion. Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
