Volunteer: Gallery Monitor VolunteerVisArts' Gallery Department is looking for volunteers looking to get involved in the DMV arts community! We need volunteers to help us monitor galleries, greet guests, and track visitors. Volunteers make sure that: Our galleries are a welcoming space to all individualsOur artworks are kept safeVisitors receive useful and relevant information about our exhibits and programmingVisitors are engaged in meaningful exchanges with our exhibitsOur volunteers are the front face of our galleries, and fulfill a crucial role in engaging with our visitors. Gallery volunteers will be: Engaging in conversation about art with visitorsLearning about our exhibitions and answer questions about themHelping set up for programming and events related to our exhibitionsAttending our opening receptions to track attendance and help with set up and clean upThis is a great SSL opportunity for students going into a career in the arts and are applying to art schools or programs! Our Volunteer Coordinator can review college applications, portfolios, and give advice to both students and parents about art schools and careers in the arts field. Students will also have the opportunity to meet and talk with professional curators, artists, and arts administrators. Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
