Volunteer: Spend your Sunday with Lucky Dog! (October 26th at Rockville Petsmart!)Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is hosting an adoption event on Sunday, October 26th at the Rockville PetSmart. (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895) from 11:15 - 2:30. We could use help with handling dogs at the event or driving animals to and from the event. If you are under 18 you must have a parent present at all times. If assigned a dog to handle, the parent must be the one physically holding the dog's leash. All volunteers are required to stay for the full duration of the event. Come spend the afternoon with a Lucky Dog! We need dog handlers to hold a dog's leash during our adoption event and talk up the dog to potential adopters during the event. Volunteer: So What Else - Outdoor Food Distribution - October 2025 (Gaithersburg)Description: While we no longer operate a pantry at Lakeforest Mall, we're still just as committed to serving the Gaithersburg community. Our food distribution operations have moved to South Lake Elementary School. Every Tuesday, So What Else, with the help of our incredible team, provides free food to over 500 people. We will gather in groups of about 3 volunteers per section, each would walk the assigned cemetery section to collect the flags placed the previous Saturday and replace them with an utility flag in preparation for our Wreaths Across America event on December 14th. We estimate 1 working hour for this event. All ages welcome, from 6th grade up. Hilly, rough ground must be traversed. Dress appropriately for weather of the day. We will collect the flags rain or shine. SSL students will be required to write a descriptive paragraph about this event on the pre-filled SSL form which will be provided at the cemetery.
