The Community Food Rescue program, facilitated by Montgomery County Food Council, supports food recovery for the network of food assistance providers in Montgomery County. Community Food Rescue connects food donors, volunteers, and food pantries with wholesome surplus food, recovered and distributed to Montgomery County residents who need it most, in a coordinated, efficient, and equitable way.
We are in need of Food Runners – Individuals, families and/or groups that can transport donated, recovered food from food retail and restaurant establishments to the recipient agencies in our network.
If you have a vehicle, a good driving record, and a few extra hours, you can volunteer to transport food on a weekly basis, or just for a one-time food run. Choose food runs that fit your schedule using the easy-to-use Chowmatch app. Simply sign up, complete a short online food safety training, accept a food run that works for you, deliver the food, and fill out a brief post-run form.
