Community Ambassadors Needed to Distribute Fliers Promoting Next-Day Vaccination Clinic in Silver Spring
On Monday, May 10, from 10am - 2pm, the County will be hosting a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Flier Distribution Event starting at Good Hope Homes, 1081 Good Hope Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20905 from 10AM - noon, and proceeding by car to Cloverly Shopping Center, 15521 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20905 from noon-2:00PM. Volunteers will hang fliers promoting a Good Hope Homes next-day vaccination clinic at doors in the neighborhood, and then distribute these fliers outside the Safeway in the Shopping Center. All activities are outside.
Our goal is to encourage close-by residents to get vaccinated at a convenient, Tuesday 5/11 FEMA Good Hope Homes mobile vaccination clinic, provide vaccination information, and answer vaccine-related questions. To ensure safe interactions, staff will practice social distancing, wear masks, use hand sanitizer, and rely on materials with QR codes. We are looking for a total of 6 volunteers, including one or two who speak Spanish.

Background:
Covid has disproportionately affected certain communities within Montgomery County. At the same time, these areas where Covid rates are the highest are where vaccination rates are the lowest. Barriers include technology, hesitancy, limited English proficiency, isolation, and disinformation or conflicting messaging. That's why in-person outreach in underserved communities is needed to inform residents and assist them with the vaccine process at County Health Clinics. We need to get the ENTIRE County vaccinated!

1) If you have not yet attended one required Zoom Information Session, please sign up by going to our Vaccine volunteers web page under "Resources for Community Ambassador Volunteers".
2) After you attend the Information Session, update the "Qualifications" section of your Volunteer Center account. Instructions are here. NOTE: This system will not allow you to register for any outreach event without completing steps 1) and 2).
