HarvestShare maintains a food production garden in Potomac where eveything grown is delivered to a local food pantry. We welcome anyone who is interested to volunteer in the garden regardless of age, strength, mobility or gardening experience. If you want to help and learn, we will find a place for you in our garden.
There are numerous opportunities in the garden including:
- preparing the beds planting including weeding, addition of compost and other amendments
- planting-seedlings and seeds
- adding structural supports
- performing heavier maintenance work like adding wood chips to the paths
- watering, weeding and harvesting
- weighing and packaging harvested produce
- delivering the produce
Please contact Barbara for more information about the volunteer schedule. During the late spring and summer we are in the garden one or two weekday mornings and every other Saturday or Sunday. the spring is a little less predictable. There is no long term commitment required.
