MCBA is hosting two tents at the Greenfest Earth day celebration April 22nd, 2023. We will have lots of educational material on hand and activities for adults and children to learn about bees. Volunteers would help MCBA beekeepers hand out materials and guide visitors to exhibits and activities including looking at the observation hive, looking at bee tools and equipment, for children there are activities including coloring, making bee antennae, dressing up like a beekeeper and doing a waggle dance to communicate the distance to food. Volunteers do not need prior knowledge of bees or bee keeping and will not be expected to handle bees. (bees will be closed into the observation hive!) Maximum SSL hour volunteers needed is 6 (may choose multiple shifts).
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
