Join the Community Design Lab for a hands-on Volunteer Maintenance Day as we refresh our student-designed conservation gardens at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown.
You don’t need any special skills, just a willingness to pull up and join us. We’ll provide tools, gloves, and guidance. Together, we’ll pull weeds and spread a new layer of mulch to give our native plants like black-eyed susans and purple coneflowers a chance to thrive.
We're starting early to beat the heat.
What to expect:
- Light garden work, including mulching, pulling weeds, and watering
- A short orientation and garden tour
- Earn up to 2 Montgomery County SSL hours for students
- All materials and refreshments provided
- Activities suitable for ages 12+ (youth under 18 must have parental or guardian permission)
When: Saturday, August 22nd, from 8:00 a.m.– 10:00 a.m.
Where: BlackRock Center for the Arts, 12901 Town Commons Drive, Germantown, MD (Back Parking lot)
Please register using this Eventbrite Link!
*The building may not be open during our volunteer time, so the nearest restroom may be the library or nearby stores.
Join us in beautifying Upper Montgomery County, one garden bed at a time.
We hope to see you there!
