Service in a box – Immigrant Care Kit: Service in a box is a DIY community service kit that allows you in a creative way to show your appreciation and welcome to a person who just migrate to the USA or a refugee. By creating a hand-made goody bag in addition to write a note of encouragement to the recipients. Bags will be delivered to an organization welcoming immigrants and refugees in Maryland. The kit come with some basic items but you are welcome to add other products or goodies. A bag with handwritten note will be equivalent to 2 SSL Hours. Students should not include any personally identifying information (full name, home address, email address, etc.) in their notes.
The pick-up kit date will be January 17 at Rockville City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave. Rockville MD 20850, between 1 to 5 PM
Return Kit date will January 27 at Rockville City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave. Rockville MD 20850 at between 1 and 5 PM.
Note If you are requesting SSL hours, please include your name and email address with the kit.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy at any time the student is interacting with the nonprofit and its clients. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. This service activity is designed to be completed within the safety of the student’s home until the end of the 2021-2022 school year.
