Description

Earth Day is an annual event to demonstrate support for environmental protection, conservation, and sustainability. Now morphed into Earth Month for all of April, this is a special time of year to recognize the City's efforts in various areas of sustainability and commitment to our climate action goals.

The City of Takoma Park Office of Sustainability is seeking volunteers for our upcoming Earth Day/Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20th, 2024 from 10:00am-2:00pm (Rain date April 21).

Volunteers roles include  site set-up and breakdown of tables and pop-up tents, assisting with line control for the face painting station, managing the energy savings prize wheel at the Sustainability Office table, making snow cones, greeting community members and guiding them to activities, and other tasks as assigned to support the 18+ community partners participating in this event. Snacks and water will be provided for volunteers.

Volunteers can choose to work one of two shifts (8:30am-12pm and 12pm-3:30pm) or the entire event (8:30am-3:30pm). The event will be held at the Sligo Creek Stream Valley Park near the new playground at Houston and Kennebec Ave. (8101 Sligo Creek Pkwy, Takoma Park, MD 20912).
