Join the Youth Action Institute to assemble literacy kits for Jumpstart, a nonprofit organization that provides high quality educational resources and support to under-resourced families to ensure that every single child is set up for success by the time they reach kindergarten. The kits we assemble will be instrumental in helping children from under-resourced communities get a head start on their reading skills. Research shows that literacy skills are incredibly important – a student’s proficiency in reading by the 3rd grade can indicate whether or not they will graduate high school!
This project is open to teens ages 11-18, and participants will earn 1.5 SSL hours. If you have any questions, please reach out to Lyssa at ajellenik@edcjcc.org.
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
