Come join us Saturday, March 2, 2024 for
Serve Saturday Day of Service & Food Drop-off Event
You're invited to join us in serving our community, for first responders, teachers, homeless, elderly, and community cleanup and care. In addition we will collect food for Germantown HELP. We are offering 2 SSL Hours.
Date: Saturday, March 2, 2024
Host: Journey's Crossing: A Christian Church
Location: 12900 Cloverleaf Center Drive, Germantown, MD 20874
Registration/sign-in: 9:00 AM
Review of accomplishments, SSL form completion
Lunch: 11:00 am Pizza
Cleanup will be based on need [students may earn 2 SSL hours for participation in projects and clean-up and parents/guardians will be asked to pick up your student by/before 11:30AM]
We will provide assorted projects.
ON-SITE PROJECTS
There will be a variety of on-site projects (off-site projects are not available for students earning SSL hours).
Care for Elderly in retirement community—Planting flowers in small pots & writing notes to encourage elderly in assisted/nursing home care.
First Responders & School Teachers—Assemble goody bags that bring a smiles to first responders in our local fire and police departments, hospitals, MOCO schools and local childcares.
Meals for Men’s Shelter—We will assemble goody bags for homeless men, with socks, snacks and kind notes of care.
THIS IS ALSO A DROP-OFF EVENT.
Bring/drop-off non-perishable food items from 9AM-11:30 AM.
Bring and drop off non-perishable food. Items needed:
- macaroni & cheese
- cereal
- peanut butter and jelly
- rice
- beans
- canned fruit
- canned meat
ALL of this will be ADDED to the shelves to stock the Germantown HELP pantry before the Easter and Spring Break holiday.
SERVE SATURDAY
You are invited to show love and support by helping with projects at Journey’s Crossing. Join us as we do small things to make a difference in MOCO and around the world. Students are invited to earn 2 Student Service Learning Hours.
On Serve Saturday’s we focus on the local community, to face and meet real needs. We collect and deliver items, assemble goody bags to express kindness and care for first responders and school teachers, make crafts & banners, assist to provide food, help the homeless by preparing meals, care for needs of hurting children, single mothers, families, and we add projects as small groups express their passion to meet needs. Other groups will visit the elderly, clean up our area highway, and purchase additional food for Germantown Help to fill the pantry.
We strive to make a positive difference in our world as we partner with other organizations, like Montgomery Serves, Germantown Help, Seneca Heights Transitional Housing, Women’s Coalition, Men’s Shelter, Sheppard Pratt, Asbury Village, Zumba, County Highway Cleanup, and more.
This Serve Saturday—March 2, 2024—You are invited to join our change-maker teams as we collectively serve to make the world a better place.

Students who respond to this opportunity may earn 2 SSL hours for on-site participation in projects, however students may NOT earn SSL Hours for dropping off food.
NOTE: Safety requirements: Journey's Crossing will follow CDC guidelines for safety, by providing hand sanitizing stations, and will adhere to the current guidelines set for masks on that date [masks available, not required]. Note: photos may be taken for use at Journey's Crossing church.
