Bake any type of casserole or banana bread, package and freeze in individual servings, for those served by Nourish Now food center in Rockville.
When you sign up below, you are committing to deliver your frozen meals anytime Monday-Friday between 9:30am-3:30pm, to Nourish Now Center at 405 East Gude Drive Rockville, MD 20850
THE PLAN:
- Select a casserole recipe from our recipe library or deliver any type of nutritious casserole you wish to make. You can substitute zucchini bread or any other healthier type of quick bread in place of banana bread. Feel free to customize your breads with chocolate chips, raisins, etc. Whatever you make, be sure to note any allergens in your ingredients on the label (details below).
- MAKE 4 single casserole or banana bread servings
- FREEZE your meals. Label each container with: date, your first name and last initial, what you made, and mark it with any relevant food info including common allergens or preferences. (Use the template to print KindWorks labels off your own printer – 6 to a page labels needed for this template).
- DELIVER the frozen servings to Nourish Now Center at 405 East Gude Drive Rockville, MD 20850.

Students who sign up in advance, participate in this project, and submit a completed KindWorks SSL Request Form can earn SSL hours at the following rate:
- 4 single casserole servings = 2 SSL hours
- 4 mini-loaves of quick bread = 2 SSL hours
*MCPS allows no more than 8 SSL hours in a 24 hour period
Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy at any time the student is interacting with the nonprofit and its clients. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. This service activity is designed to be completed within the safety of the student’s home.
