MCPS Winter Greeting Card SSL Project SY25
THE PROJECT:
MCPS students are asked to create winter greeting cards to bring smiles and joy to area senior citizens. Members of the Black Coalition For Excellence In Education will distribute these cards to area senior care centers.
Students may submit as many QUALITY cards as they wish (up to a maximum of 12 cards) and students will earn 1 SSL hour for every 4 winter greeting cards that meet the quality standards (see below).
MCPS Students, please DO NOT respond to this opportunity. All MCPS middle and high school students may participate and earn SSL hours by following the directions provided at the following link - https://forms.gle/62rSg1MwPWztg4EcA
SSL Information
4 cards that meet the following requirements will earn 1 SSL hour.
Students may submit up to 12 cards (3 separate form submissions required)
Card Requirements
Please include the following:
Use a happy greeting
Make the card colorful and cheery (draw pictures, decorate, etc.)
Write a minimum of 5 sentences that share a positive message for the winter (poems, positive messages, words of encouragement, etc.)
Use LARGE PRINT
Use correct spelling and grammar
Your card must be your original work
Each card must be unique and different from any other cards you submit (copies of cards will not be accepted)
You may choose to sign your card with your first name only
Please do NOT include the following:
References to any specific religious holiday or religious text
Personal information (last name, age, school name, home address, phone number)
Inappropriate language, pictures, or symbols
DIRECTIONS - Please follow each step carefully:
Step 1: Create your cards that meet the requirements listed above and prepare them for submission
Step 2: Submit your finalized cards as follows (there are 2 options)
Submission Option #1 - Upload a copy of each card, and they will be printed (in color) and prepared for distribution.
OR
Submission Option #2 - Mail all cards with a separate piece of paper that includes your name, ID number, grade, and school name written on it (this information is required for students to earn SSL hours). Mailed submissions must be mailed to: MCPS Student Leadership & Extracurricular Activities, Attn: Shella Cherry (Director), 850 Hungerford Drive, Suite 174, Rockville, MD 20850.

Submission DEADLINE:
Due to the winter break coming soon, all items must be received by Thursday, December 12, 2024.
