We are accepting applications for student volunteers for the MCPS Extended Learning Opportunities Summer Adventures in Learning (ELO SAIL) summer program for Sargent Shriver Elementary School. You are registering for this specific location.

  • You may only register for one location. If you would like to see a list of all of the available ELO SAIL volunteer opportunities, please click on this link.

  • If your name appears as registered for more than one location, your name will be removed from both locations. No Exceptions can be made.

  • Open to rising 7th grade students to rising 12th grade students. The times for this volunteer opportunity will be from 8:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, from July 8 - August 2, 2024.

  • You MUST be available to volunteer for 15 out of the 20 days. Please do NOT register for this opportunity if you cannot meet the attendance requirement.

As a student volunteer, you will help support the daily operations of the summer program. A few examples are: supporting the arrival and dismissal procedures, providing classroom support, supporting small group reading and math, supporting students with technology, supporting classroom organizations, and various other administrative tasks.

To register for this volunteer opportunity, student volunteers MUST complete ALL THREE of the following steps:

  • STEP 1 - Click on the blue “Respond” button on this page to "Respond" to this opportunity with student volunteer information. (When you click the blue Respond button, if you are not already logged into your Montgomery County Volunteer Center account, you will be prompted to either login or create an account.)

  • STEP 2 - Within two (2) weeks of registering, you will receive an email (to the email address associated with the Montgomery County Volunteer Center account you used to respond to the opportunity) that will include a link to a registration Google Form that must be completed and submitted. Failure to complete this step will result in being unable to volunteer for ELO SAIL.

  • STEP 3 - Attend a mandatory orientation at the school that you are volunteering at on July 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Your school's exact orientation date will be shared with you via email by June 15th.

This is a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE process based off of when the blue “Respond” button is clicked and the registration Google form is successfully submitted upon receipt of email. Failure to do these steps will mean your application will not be accepted for consideration.

All applicants will receive an email within two weeks of completing the application process to let you know whether or not you have been selected.
