Join us for a "CHARLA" hosted by Councilmember Gabe Albornoz
Join us for a “CHARLA” with Councilmember Gabe Albornoz to discuss the Montgomery County Strategic Plan to End Childhood Hunger and its impact on children in our community.
One of the most critical issues in Montgomery County is childhood hunger. At least 14% of children experience food insecurity, and many more live in households without enough income to meet basic needs. Data shows significant racial disparities in childhood food insecurity: while 4.5% of white children live below the Federal Poverty Line (FPL), this number rises to over 14% for Hispanic/Latino and Black children.
Councilmember Gabe Albornoz, At-Large and Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee, has been a champion for issues that deeply affect Montgomery County, particularly those impacting Latino families that’s why created Resolution 19-1235 Join us to learn about this project and how it’s progressing in the fight to end childhood hunger in Montgomery County.
This session will be held in Spanish and there will be an English interpreter.
MCPS middle school and high school students can earn up to three Student Service Learning (SSL) hours (may vary based on the length of the webinar) for attending and participating in the event and following up with advocacy action:
