Tax-Aide Schedulers work from home using County-provided equipment to schedule appointments for low to moderate income residents (with special emphasis on seniors) to have their federal and MD state tax returns prepared for free. Volunteers answer telephone calls during a specific 4-hour shift, and make appointments using an online scheduling system. Using a script, they explain to clients what information and items must be brought to a Tax-Aide appointment. You must be comfortable using a computer; training is provided using county equipment. There are several required certifications to be completed online. Good telephone communication skills, patience, and flexibility are requirements.
This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with and help many people, meet fellow volunteers and participate in a great program! There is also a volunteer appreciation event at the end of tax season. See more details on our website
