We're looking for a dedicated volunteer every Friday at 9 AM to help with our Friday Produce Delivery. This role is essential in ensuring fresh produce reaches the communities we serve in downtown Silver Spring.
Volunteer Tasks Include:
- Pick up 50 produce bags from our Montgomery County Warehouse: 4924 Wyaconda Rd, North Bethesda, MD 20852
- Contact Lisa at (240) 432-6084 (call or text) to let her know you’re on the way
- Deliver the produce bags to:
- Sligo Distribution Site – 735 Sligo Ave, Silver Spring, MD
- Parking: Park in front of the building called Barbizon
- Sligo Distribution Site – 735 Sligo Ave, Silver Spring, MD
Important: Volunteers must have a vehicle large enough to transport 50 produce bags.
Age Restrictions:
- Ages 18 and above: This role is for adult volunteers due to the driving requirement and heavy lifting involved.
Physical Ability:
- Ability to lift and carry produce bags (approximately 15-20 lbs each).
- If you have any physical limitations, please get in touch with us to discuss accommodations.
How to Prepare:
- Wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing suitable for lifting and carrying produce bags.
- Bring water to stay hydrated.
Location:
- Pick-Up Location: 4924 Wyaconda Rd, North Bethesda, MD
- Parking: Use the yellow spots immediately to your right when entering the lot. Do not park in front of Dogtopia or along the fence.
- Entrance: Look for signs for "Dogtopia," then continue to the left around the corner. Walk up the black ramp to the resource center and check in with a staff member.
- Drop-Off Location: 735 Sligo Ave, Silver Spring, MD (park in front of the Barbizon building)
