Description

We are seeking friendly, dependable students to help create a welcoming and well-organized shopping experience for guests at our food pantry.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up tables and prepare the pantry for shopping
  • Welcome guests warmly upon arrival
  • Help guests locate items and provide assistance as needed
  • Courteously remind shoppers of quantity limits so that food is available for everyone
  • Help break down tables and clean the shopping area after the pantry closes
  • Return unused nonperishable items to the pantry storage area
  • Sort and organize food and supplies in the storage area
  • Work cooperatively with pantry volunteers and coordinators

Qualifications: Friendly, respectful, and comfortable interacting with people. Able to communicate guidelines kindly and without making guests feel uncomfortable Dependable and willing to follow instructions. Able to stand, move around, and help with light lifting. Organized and attentive to detail. Committed to treating every guest with dignity and respect, Schedule: Food pantry dates and hours will be provided in advance.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.
