The Community Advocacy Institute is a free program that teaches residents basic advocacy skills and provides hands-on opportunities to advocate for important issues in the community. The eight-month program includes workshops focused on best practices for engaging elected officials using strategies such as storytelling, research, letter-writing and public testimony. The workshops are led by Community Action Board members and feature elected officials, local advocates and issue experts. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their own testimony and complete an advocacy project.
Additional information about the program and a link to the registration page may be found online at montgomerycountymd.gov/communityaction.
