Music of all genres prepared and performed by middle and high school students as a community service and music therapy for aging adults. Students will bring their favorite music (patriotic, folk, popular (50s, 60s, 70s, 80s), Broadway Hits, and classical songs to share with seniors primarily on Sunday afternoons when physical therapy appointments are suspended for the weekends. Volunteers must be able to play an instrument well or sing fluently. All styles (except Rap)are of interest. All participants will need to demonstrate skill and interest in serving the senior community. Sites presently requesting youth performers are Asbury Methodist Village Assisted Living, Forest Oak Towers in Gaithersburg, Sunrise Senior Living in Rockville and Montgomery Village. More facilities are in the works as we contact Volunteer Activity Directors to offer youth and music as therapy for seniors.
