Some volunteer positions require a criminal and/or DMV background check, and some may involve driving or heavy lifting. But if you want to help, we guarantee we can find a place for you! All volunteers receive an official volunteer t-shirt and food. Students in need of SSL hours are encouraged to apply. Students may not earn SSL hours for opportunities that involve driving.
Kindly note three things:
- You MUST be 16 years or older to volunteer without a parent/guardian/adult.
- Our sign up system is separate than the Montgomery County Volunteer Center's. Please go to the website listed below to complete your registration.
- End time is approximate and is dependent on when the last walker finishes. Although we do not anticipate going over the times listed here, we could go under. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Our COVID-19 Precautions
As we navigate the continued effects of COVID-19, we have a variety of protocols in place based on the latest guidance from public health authorities to ensure your Walk MS experience is fun and safe.
- Masks are required indoors and strongly encouraged outdoors. The Walk will take place outdoors. We will have extra masks if needed.
- Stay home if you experience any COVID-19 symptoms within 24 hours prior to an event or are exposed to anyone who is positive for COVID-19 within 14 days prior to an event.
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required to attend a Walk MS event, but we strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- We have planned the event to allow for physical distance between staff, volunteers and participants whenever possible.
- Tents and displays are more spread out to allow for more physical distance.
- The route will be open the entire event – there is no mass start with all participants
- We encourage volunteers to register and complete their sign up online to eliminate lines at Volunteer Check-In
- The Food Area will be grab-and-go with bottled, canned or boxed water. There is no single-serve coffee.
- We will routinely clean and sanitize shared spaces and high-touch surfaces, and ensure adequate handwashing supplies and hand sanitizer.
