Saint Luke Lutheran Church opens its doors for the homeless and lonely in Silver Spring. On Sunday afternoons, from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., guests drop in for a warm meal, a place to rest, watch TV, and interact with the volunteers. We have clothing, a clean pair of socks, and toiletries to distribute. Volunteers arrive at 11:30 a.m. to begin set-up. The first shift stays until 2:30. Then, the second shift arrives at 2:15 p.m. and stays until 5:00. We request groups that volunteer consist of a maximum of 5-6. Volunteers under age 17 must have an adult with them (or an adult per group). For more information, please contact Ruth Manchester, Parish Nurse and Director of Caring Ministries at rmanchester@saintluke.us.
