Volunteer: Host a Breast-Health Education Workshop for High School Girls

We are offering a free breast-health education workshop designed specifically for high school girls. This workshop uses the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s evidence-based “Breast Health Education for Young Women” curriculum, which focuses on breast cancer awareness, early prevention habits, confidence-building, and practical health knowledge.

We are seeking teachers, school staff, or youth leaders who would like to host this workshop for their class, club, or girls’ group. The session is interactive, age-appropriate, and aligns with health education, wellness, and social-emotional learning goals.

What We Provide:

• Trained facilitator

• Prevent Cancer Foundation curriculum

• All workshop materials

• Flexible scheduling

What We Need From the Host:

• A group of high school girls

• A classroom or meeting space

• Presence of a teacher/staff member during the session

• Any required program or school approvals

Ideal For:

• Health education teachers

• School counselors

• Girls’ empowerment clubs

• After-school program coordinators

• Community youth programs

• Church youth groups

Flexible dates available

Location: schools/libraries or youth program sites


Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the student’s parent/guardian and must be completed outside of school hours in a public space under direct supervision of the nonprofit organization. The nonprofit organization is responsible for maintaining student safety. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns.

We are seeking a passionate volunteer Workshop Facilitator to lead our breast health education sessions for girls. These workshops use the evidence-based Prevent Cancer Foundation training guide to teach early detection, breast health awareness, and confidence in self-advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

- Facilitate engaging and interactive workshops for groups of high school girls

- Present key topics such as breast self-examination, early detection, and risk awareness

- Create a safe, supportive, and age-appropriate learning environment

- Answer questions and guide discussions with sensitivity and professionalism

Qualifications

- Comfortable speaking to youth audiences

- Passion for women’s health, youth empowerment, and community service

- Ability to facilitate at least 2 workshops per year
(Workshops take place in person at schools, libraries, or community organizations)

- Resides in the DMV area

- Lived experience with breast cancer as a survivor, caregiver, or advocate is a meaningful asset but not required

- Training and all workshop materials will be provided
